Local crawfish joints expect lower prices this year

Updated: January 3, 2013

Crawfish connoisseurs can get excited about this year's season since prices are expected to be less than last year.

Robert Shaver, owner of Shaver's Catering on Youree Drive, says he'll be getting his first shipment in next week.  He says prices could be up to a dollar less per pound this year, and the season is starting about three weeks earlier.

Warm weather and good rainfall last summer are contributing to a better harvest this season.
