Caddo Commissioner Ken Epperson today confirmed a prospective tenant has been found for the facility. A new automobile plant is coming to occupy a large portion of the old General Motors plant in south Caddo Parish.
Randy Lucky, assistant administrator of the Caddo Commission, said the company will bring 1,500 new jobs and expects to be up and running by the end of the first quarter (March) of 2013.
Lucky said the new tenant will use around 2 million square feet of the facility's 3.2 million square feet under the roof. He added that the company hopes to employ up to 4,000 people after it has been in business three to four years.
A news conference is scheduled for noon Thursday at the plant, and details will be announced at that time, Lucky said.
