Christmas night fire leaves family homeless for the holidays

A family is homeless after a fire broke out at their residence along 5th Street in Shreveport on Christmas night.

According to officials with the Shreveport Fire Department, the fire began around 10:00 p.m. in the 2800 block of 5th Street.

Several fire crews battled the blaze, but officials tell NBC 6 News that the home ended up being a total loss.

No one was inside the home when the fire broke out and no one was injured.
