Louisiana Tech hall of fame quarterback Tim Rattay returns to his college roots. The Bulldogs' record-setting QB joins first-year head coach Skip Holtz' staff as an assistant.

Rattay's spent the past two seasons as the wide receivers coach for the UFL's Las Vegas Locomotives.

The eight-year NFL vet posted gaudy numbers at LA Tech between 1997-1999. Rattay earned two NCAA Total Offensive titles and tossed for 12,746 yards and 115 touchdowns.

The prolific college passer joins a newly formed coaching regim in Ruston. Skip Holtz was hired as the head coach at Louisiana Tech in December after Sonny Dykes accepted a job as the head coach at the University of California.

Rattay will join a football program that boasted the NCAA's No. 1 statistical offense.

Louisiana Tech's season ended abruptly, when the school did not receive a postseason bowl bid, despite posting a 9-3 overall record.
