Shreveport native killed; girlfriend's son behind bars for murder

A Shreveport man is killed and his girlfriend's son is behind bars, accused of murder.

Investigators believe 35-year-old Joseph "JoJo" Butler, of Shreveport shot and killed 51-year-old Larry Patterson, of Shreveport, Friday evening.

Shreveport Police said Butler turned himself in hours after the shooting and has been charged with one count of second degree murder.      

The shooting happened inside a residence on the 3300 block of Milton St around 7:15 p.m. Neighbors say Butler, his mother, and Larry Patterson, her live-in boyfriend, reside in the home.

Patterson was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, Patterson and Butler were involved in an argument when Butler pulled out a handgun and shot Patterson multiple times.
