The families decided to host the "Mikey Lo and Big Drew Blood Drive" after learning in the hospital just how much blood is used for trauma patients.
Although the blood donations did not save Andrew Perkins, who passed away Sunday at LSU-Hospital, they hope it will save someone else.
"This blood directly is not going to help my boys but it's going to help others and that's just passing it on," said Maureen Perkins. "Just passing it on and that's what they would want to...give it back and keep moving forward."
More than 50 people donated blood over the course of the two-day blood drive. The families to hope to host the blood drive every year. Hubbard and Perkins were on the verge of dedicating their lives to careers in medicine.
