Local store still has big stock of safe toys for all ages

When it comes to picking out the perfect toy for your little ones this Christmas, experts say it's important to buy age appropriate toys to avoid injuries.

Last year the Consumer Product Safety Commission reported there were nearly 200,000 injuries caused by toys.

The local Target on Youree Dr. still has tons of toys in stock that are geared toward children of all ages.

"Classic stack is very safe for children.  All of the pieces are bigger than child's mouth so you don't have issues with choking or anything like that," said Brandon Wilkinson, Target Executive Team.

Here are some tips for buying gifts for your infant or toddler:

-Read the label to check the age range it's designed for.

-The toy should be large enough not to fit inside the child's mouth to avoid choking risks.

-Make sure it's well-made so it won't break into smaller pieces.

-Be careful about buying toys for the crib.

If your children are 3 to 12 years old:

-Check the age label

-Avoid toys that shoot something up in the air could cause eye injuries

-Toys that make extremely loud noises could hurt a child's hearing

-Hobby and chemistry sets may be dangerous for children under 12
