A dozen Bossier schools are being honored for their improvements in academic performance.
Monday State Superintendent John White will make a special visit to Benton Middle School.
White will recognize Bossier's 12 "Top Gains Schools" and present principals with incentive checks for $8,500 to use for educational purposes.
Top Gains status means a school improved its state School Performance Score by or beyond a pre-determined growth target, from two to 10 points.
This year's Top Gains Schools are: Airline High, Benton High, Benton Middle, Curtis Elementary, Haughton High, Legacy Elementary, Parkway High, Platt Elementary, Princeton Elementary, Stockwell Elementary, T.L. Rodes Elementary and W.T. Lewis Elementary.
Bossier Schools Superintendent D.C. Machen said "These gains in student achievement clearly demonstrate that our teachers, students and parents understand the quest for excellence in our schools requires a collaborative effort of all community stakeholders."
White also will present Machen with a check for $350,000 after Bossier was named one of 16 districts in the state to win the "Believe and Include" grant to benefit children with disabilities.
