Local church offers prayers for CT school massacre

As the nation continues to grieve over the loss of lives in Connecticut, a local church took time to offer healing Sunday morning.

Bishop Larry L. Brandon called all the children and parents to the altar for a prayer.

He told all the parents to hug their children tight, and be thankful that you're even able to touch them.

Bishop Brandon said there are parents in Connecticut who won't get to hold their child again, and won't get to see their faces light up on Christmas morning.

Two church members we spoke to said prayer is definitely the key for tragedies like the one in the northeast.

"You have to always keep that faith," said Natasha Jenkins. "You have to always keep god in your life. That's who controls everything, you know? You don't want to short it, and just think that okay, well, I'm going to make everything right. It's not about us, it's about God."

"I could never imagine my child being killed or hurt in a school shooting like that," said Tameka Hillary. "A school is supposed to be the safest place other you're your home or church where your child should be able to go. And especially go to get an education."

Bishop Brandon also addressed the people who are blaming God for the tragedy.

He said as we continue to look for the reason why this happened, we need to realize that good and evil exist in the world.
