In Caddo Parish for the 2013 fiscal year ahead, there's a little more than $90 million to work with. Commissioners say the new budget passed smoothly with the majority of dollars going to support personnel and public works.
"We've got over 400 employees there, so it's a main part of any budget," Commission President Michael Thibodeaux said.
While money going to these large parts of the budget may seem obvious, commissioners gave the green light to some smaller projects like $100,000 to the Gentlemens Etiquette Academy.
Commissioner Michael Williams is heading the initiative and he says it goes right along the line of Swag No Sag.
"I'm really looking forward to helping young men be all they can for the future," Williams said.
In Bossier Parish, city council also approved their 2013 $204 million dollar budget. It includes a 2% pay raise for non-civil service employees.
