Powerball fever grows throughout US

By: Dan Jovic / NBC News Reports
Updated: November 28, 2012
The rush for the numbers is on right now, and millions are looking to beat the odds and the deadline for today's Powerball drawing.

Lottery officials say a billion tickets or more will be sold before the numbers are revealed Wednesday night.

It the biggest money in Powerball history ... a jackpot of $500 million and growing.

You would have to beat the 175-million-to-1 odds to win.

For comparison, you have a better chance at becoming an astronaut, being elected president, winning an academy award, or being struck by lightning multiple times.
