Local businesses targeted by thieves

During this time of giving local businesses have been targeted by thieves. A string of armed robberies has been taking place in Shreveport over the weekend.
The most
important thing for them is just being aware of what's going on. Local business owners are mindful this time
of year brings plenty of thieves.
Peter's
Grocery in Bossier City has been in operation since 1923. The store's owner says robberies are a major
concern for any business owner. It's an
even bigger problem his time of year when folks are looking for quick cash.
Mickey Capuano
says fortunately his business has never been robbed. He credits a high police presence along with
surveillance cameras.
Capuano says shoplifting is also a big problem. During the holidays more people frequent area businesses. He adds it's necessary to adjust employee staffing to meet the larger demand.
The most recent store hit up by robbers was the Valero Gas Station on Kings Highway. The crime happened Sunday morning and the suspect is still on the run.
Shreveport police describe the suspect as a black male around 22 years old. He stands at about 5'9''. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black net hat and blue jeans
