A Shreveport woman was prounounced dead Saturday night (Nov. 24, 2012) following a two-vehicle accident in West Monroe.
Sarah E. Attaway, 24, of Shreveport was pronounced dead at the scene, as was Ray Asbury, 63, of Austin, Texas.
In addition to Ashbury, occupants of the Audi have been identified as Lou Ashby, 61 of Downsville, LA, Mark Ashby, 41 of Downsville, LA and Anthony Senecal, 44, of Texas.
Those three occupants were transported to Glenwood Regional Medical Center. Senecal and Ashby later were transported by helicopter to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. Their condition at this time is unknown.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Attaway was traveling eastbound on I-20 near the Downing Pines Road overpass in a 2007 Toyota RAV, when it left the roadway and traveled through the median entering the westbound lanes, striking head-on the 2011 Audi in which Ashbury was riding.
Attaway's vehicle overturned, coming to rest on the westbound shoulder where it began to burn. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner's Office. Her remains have been sent to Little Rock, Arkansas for an autopsy.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this crash; however, routine toxicology reports are pending. In addition, it is unknown at this time if Attaway was wearing a seatbelt.
Based on the positions the occupants were found inside of the Audi and the severity of their injuries the driver of the Audi has yet to be determined. Photos were lifted from video courtesy of NBC 6 News' sister station KTVE-TV in West Monroe.
