Free Thanksgiving dinners available

Organizations offering free Thanksgiving dinners:
Salvation Army
The Salvation Army will be serving Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thanksgiving day at 200 Stoner in Shreveport. In addition, Thanksgiving Dinner will be delivered to people unable to go to the Stoner location
Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission
The Shreveport/Bossier Rescue Mission has more than180 volunteers to serve an anticipated 1,500 homeless on Thanksgiving day. Generous volunteer support and donations of turkeys have helped ensure the success of this meal for those less fortunate. Although the mission has enough turkeys and volunteers, they are still asking for donations of perishable goods like dinner rolls, cakes and pies. Drop off donations between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the mission, 901 McNeil Street.
Shared Harvest Community Kitchen
The Shared Harvest Community Kitchen will serve a free Thanksgiving dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at 2125 Airline Drive in Bossier City, in the gymnasium behind the church.
The meal, open to all, will include herb roasted turkey, cornbread dressing, smothered green beans, sweet potato casserole and desserts. Shared Harvest is a local ministry that serves free suppers to local families and individuals Mondays through Thursdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
