Thousands flocked to the 9th Annual Highland Jazz and Blues Festival at Columbia Park Saturday afternoon.

There were more than 60 vendors and nearly a dozen bands, which performed on two stages.

The festival kicked off at 11:30 a.m. and ended around 5 p.m. People from across the ArkLaTex were there to have a good time.

"Love it," said Jamie Wise, a Highland resident.  "It's the best blues festival that they have. I wish they had it more than once a year. "

"People love the Highland neighborhood. People love coming in and enjoying the free music," said Margo Shideler, a Highland Jazz and Blues Festival Board Member.

Shideler said the festival saw record-breaking attendance this year, with more than 7,000 people coming out to attend the free event.
