A historic event at a historic location is happening Thursday night in downtown Shreveport.
The city is living up to its nickname "Hollywood of the South". The holiday blockbuster-hopeful "Rise of the Guardians" premieres at The Strand Theater. Based on the books by William Joyce of local Oscar-winning Moonbot Studios, the movie opens nationwide next week.
Brandon Oldenburg, Joyce's creative partner at Moonbot, can't wait to see how the night plays out.
"We were so fortunate that DreamWorks fronted the coin to be able to get surround sound, digital projection... This is amazing. In the Strand Theater which is a building - a beautiful building - designed for showing films."
The premiere event starts at 6:30 P.M., but won't end when the movie is over. Ticket-holders will parade over to Artspace to have a sneak peak of their latest exhibit featuring the making of "Rise of the Guardians".
To buy ticket to the premier, call The Strand at (318) 226-1481. Click here, for more information on Artspace's exhibit on the movie.
