The cold weather is helping fight the mosquito population and stop the spread of the deadly West Nile Virus.

As a result of the spike in West Nile cases over the summer Bossier City had to spray for mosquitoes an additional two months.  It costs the city nearly $15,000.

In Bossier City crews have been able to scale back on mosquito spraying.  The routine sprays ended two weeks ago because of a drop in complaints.
