Tech WR Quinton Patton Named Biletnikoff Award Semifinalist

The semifinalists were chosen from a large pool of contenders originally announced on the preseason Watch List on July 17 and were selected by 190 distinguished members of the National Selection Committee.

 

Through 10 games this season, Patton leads the Bulldogs with 1,086 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns on 83 catches, averaging 13.1 yards per catch and 108.6 yards per game.

 

The La Vergne, Tenn. native is currently sixth in the nation in receptions per game (8.30) and ninth in the nation in receiving yards per game (108.60).  He is also fifth in the nation in scoring among receivers (11 touchdowns) this season.

 

Earlier this season Patton tied a school record with 21 receptions against then No. 22 Texas A&M with a career 233 receiving yards. In that game, Louisiana Tech scored 57 points against the Aggies, the most points Texas A&M has ever allowed against a non-conference opponent. The Aggies are currently ranked in the top 10.

 

Patton is joined on the semifinalist list by Tavon Austin (West Virginia), Stedman Bailey (West Virginia), Brandin Cooks (Oregon State), Austin Franklin (New Mexico State), Coby Hamilton (Arkansas), Austin Hill (Arizona), Deandre Hopkins (Clemson), Marqise Lee (Southern California) and Terrance Williams (Baylor).

 

The vote for the three Biletnikoff Award Finalists by the National Selection Committee will open on November 14th and close on November 18th.  The three Finalists will be announced on Monday, November 19th. The Biletnikoff Award winner will be announced live on ESPN's The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 6, 2012.
