A local man is now in police custody following an alleged sexual assault and kidnapping in west Shreveport.

Authorities say Carl L Scott, 53, of the 1400 block of Missouri Street has been arrested for the kidnapping, sexual assault and beating of an adult female Wednesday morning.

Just before noon Wednesday, Shreveport Police responded to a call at a home in the 1400 block of Missouri Street relative to an assault and battery call.

Upon arrival at the scene, authorities made contact an adult female who apparently had been the victim of a brutal beating, kidnapping and sexual assault at the hands of a subject known to her.

It was learned that the female and a male acquaintance were at a home in the 1400 block of Missouri Street when the alleged attack occurred.  After hours of allegedly being bound and raped, the woman somehow managed to free herself and escape her captor by fleeing through a window.

Subsequently, the woman was transported to a local hospital by the Shreveport Fire Department.

Sex crimes investigators, along with crime scene personnel arrived on scene and launched their investigations.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the home where the alleged assault occurred and collected evidence therein.

In addition, authorities also spoke with witnesses who reported seeing a woman running from the home asking for help.

This morning, sex crimes detectives were contacted at police headquarters by Scott, who was suspected in the alleged assault, was interviewed by detectives.

Based on evidence gathered during the course of the investigation, Scott was arrested and booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
