A free self defense class is being offered by the Bossier Sheriff's Office to the first 30 applicants from Bossier Parish.

According to officials with the sheriff's office, the class will take place on November 17, from 8 - 11 a.m. at the Viking Drive Substation, located at 2510 Viking Drive.

Those wanted to attend the class must be age 18 or older.

While the class is free, the Bossier Sheriff's Office is asking for your support of their food bank program, Bossier Parish:Operation Blessing, by bringing some canned goods or non-perishable food items as donations.

The donations will be used to provide a hearty meal for needy residents during Christmas and throughout the year.

"With the holiday season upon us and folks out and about this busy shopping season, we want shoppers to keep safety on their minds," said Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington.

Contact the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy at 965-3525 to sign up.
