Names of officers involved in today's fatal shooting released; deceased identified

The Shreveport Police Department has released the names of two police officers involved in a fatal shooting that occurred this morning in north Caddo Parish, and Caddo Parish has released the names of the two who died in the incident.
The male suspect who died is Donnie Ray Plater, 42, no address available; the female victim is Cindy Johnson West, 34 of Shreveport
In accordance with departmental policy, Shreveport Police Corporals Daniel Denby, hired by the department in February of 2000, and Michael Welch, hired by the department in March of 2005, were placed on paid administrative leave this afternoon by Chief of Police Willie Shaw.
