Caddo schools' make major gains on annual report card

Local schools experienced major academic improvements in a short period of time. This was shown with the latest School and District Performance Scores and Letter Grades. Within a year several schools made significant gains.
Anthony Tisdale, principal at Woodlawn Leadership Academy says they implemented more tutorial programs. Activities for at-risk students are also being offered after school and even on the weekends.
Southwood High School saw the most improvement out of Caddo schools. The high school met its growth target by increasing its score 21 points. The principal there put in place a new educational plan. The plan was created based on the specific needs of his students.
However, there's still more work left to be done at both schools. Woodlawn had a 14 point gain but still has an "F" letter grade. Southwood improved but has a "D" letter grade.
School leaders expect even more growth next year. Teachers will receive more training for the new common core standards.
