The Caddo Parish Economic Development Committee debates over which area non-profits will receive funding in 2013.
The Caddo Parish Commission has budgeted half a million dollars to disperse to area non-profits. A total of 27 asked for funding, totaling $822,000 in requested funds.
During the committee meeting Monday afternoon, the commissioners voted in favor of recommending 21 local non-profits for funding, while another six non-profits look to be on the chopping block.
"We have x amount of dollars coming in and I think we need to put them specifically where it'll do the most benefit," said Caddo Commissioner and Committee member John Escude.
Caddo Parish Economic Development Committee Chairwoman Lindora Baker said she was not happy with the results of the vote.
"I look to do some amendments on some of those decisions that were made today and shift some funding around to make sure that all of these economic development organizations are funded. "
