SHREVEPORT, Louisiana -- Police have arrested a man they say burglarized a local business and in the process stole a rifle.

28-year old Christopher Geter of Shreveport was arrested on Saturday evening in connection with a burglary along Forest Avenue.

Police say that Geter stole a television along with a .22 caliber rifle from the business.

The businesses owner alerted police of the theft and while police were on scene, witnesses told officers that Geter had been seen with the business owner earlier that day.

According to police, witnesses also told police that Geter had been spotted peering into the business through a window, while the owner was not there, the day before the robbery.

Officers made contact with Geter and he was taken into custody a short time later. Geter was booked on a charge of burglary.

The rifle stolen from the business was recovered and returned to the business owner.
