Haughton Buccaneers win the NBC 6 Spirit Stick

It's something that's highly contested among local high schools: The NBC 6 Spirit Stick.  All of you have been showing off your school spirit in order to claim it.  The school that came out on top is Haughton.

"Whenever people are involved with something and apart of a group it just builds each other up," said Micahla Wilson, senior.

That philosophy is working when it comes to a school with a big heart, and a loud student section as the NBC 6 morning show crew found out first hand Friday morning.

"The Crew is our student section.  We go to all the different kind of games... We stand behind our team and go where they go," said Wilson.

It's a bigger, better and more organized student section.

"It just gets crazy during the games.  It almost like the student sections are competing against each other during the game," said Cole Williams, senior.

The Bucs are gearing up for their game against airline.  Wilson plans to keep the football team in a winning state of mind.

"The cheerleaders, pep squad, the band and crew, everything.  Whenever they hear us behind them it feels like an army and they play their hardest," said Wilson.

Haughton High School students are working together to keep old traditions and create new ones like the crew.  Williams believes in setting an example of getting involved, and being a family.

"Leave a legacy of seniors having so much spirit.  And push people to achieve more goals," said Williams.

You could be our week six winner of the NBC 6 spirit stick if your school's student section goes nuts when you see our cameras tonight at your football game.
