SHREVEPORT, La. - The LSU Shreveport Pilots men's soccer team clipped the Texas College Steers by a final score of 1-0 on Thursday afternoon at The Swamp as Rodrigo Pontes scored the game's only goal for the win 45 seconds into the second half.

LSUS (8-4-1, 4-2-1 RRAC) struggled in the first half taking only eight total shots but rebounded nicely in the second half of play pounding a total of 17 shots toward the Texas College goal despite on six finding their way on frame.

Pontes took a total of eight shots in the contest with four on frame to lead all shooters in both categories. Nate Gurinsky and Nikkel Collymore led the Pilots attacking defense with each taking three shots with one on goal.

Texas College (1-12, 0-7 RRAC) totaled 14 shots for the game but the LSUS' defense did a much better job in the second half and only allowed four shots. LSUS' keeper Lance Quini had a pair of saves in the shutout victory.

The Pilots will next take on Bacone College on Saturday afternoon at The Swamp at 1 p.m.
