The National unemployment rate for September is down to 7.8%. That's the same level it was the day President Obama took office, and the lowest it's been in his Presidency.
Employment looks and smells even better for Chef Jacob Mouser. He just moved to Louisiana from Texas.
"I was here for one week and I found a job so it was not a hard time at all. I got two jobs in one week when I moved here. I didn't know anybody," Mouser said.
Mouser's employment echoes the fall of September's national unemployment rate from 8.1% to 7.8%.
Northwest LA has an unemployment rate of 7.2%.
Experts say small businesses are making a come-back and Chef Mouser certainly agrees.
He works for a new Shreveport business that opened in July. Healthy Chef Meals.
"It was stressful at first but I'm so proud. I'm feeling that pressure that they need the work and money. It's nice to have these guys," owner Jennifer Gieseke said.
Within three months her business has kept 8 people out of the unemployment line and into the kitchen.
