City Council approves December tax renewal election

It's your money...
The issue is a sales tax renewal aimed at adequately funding Shreveport Fire and Police Departments.
The tax expires by the end of this year and must be approved by an election. Voters last approved it in 2006.
Now the city is hurrying to get the message out to voters for a December special election. The cost of an election for Shreveport is roughly $70,000.
The election cannot be placed on the Nov. 6th ballot because the August deadline already past.
