Citizens in
one local town now have a tool that will alert them to severe weather. Benton will soon activate its first emergency
outdoor tornado warning system.
Mayor Wayne
Cathcart held a meeting with parish and town officials to explain how the
device will be used.
The siren
costs $35,000 purchased with funding from state grants. However the mayor says you can't place a
value on the need for the system. The
new siren will be activated in November.
