Sex offenders have been under the microscope for the past 12 days. Caddo Parish deputies have been arresting several unregistered offenders per day; an offense the sheriff says carries a minimum of 1 year in jail. "What these 50 arrests have done is caused us to have to get rid of some state prisoners," admitted Steve Prator, Caddo Parish Sheriff. Some residents admit they arent surprised the crackdown is causing the jail to become overcrowded. "They know if they do the crime, they are going to have to do the time and they need to do it," commented Lucille Jackson. "We are simply arresting sex offenders and letting burglars be housed at another parish facility," explained Sheriff Prator. Raymond Kindle believes authorities need to do whatever it takes to get sex offenders off the streets. "It needs to be done. I think it`s all right as long as you keep everybody where they need to be. Get the offenders off the street, protect the kids around here," said Raymond Kindle. "If it takes moving facilities or whatever it takes to get them, make them pay," commented Jackson. Sheriff Prator isnt planning to let up on the round up operation until the community is safe. "We`re going to arrest sex offenders even if we have to clean the whole jail out and hold nothing but sex offenders."
