A little bit of rain didn't damper the spirit of community pride during one local event Saturday.
More than one hundred people came out for Community Renewal's 14th Annual Highland Neighborhood Picnic.
"I've been praying for four days and God said that he had it under control and it's just a miracle all the people came, " said Sandra Simpson, the Highland Community Coordinator for Community Renewal.
Folks feasted on free barbeque while families enjoyed face-painting, a cake walk and other activities.
Highland residents enjoyed
seeing new faces from their neighborhood.
"This is my second year coming," said Rhonda Combs, of Shreveport. "I think it's awesome."
Community Renewal hosts this picnic every year to bring the neighborhood together in a safe, fun setting.
