Middle School Gets Another Chance

By: Import User
Updated: February 5, 2007
Now the school district is giving the school a chance to turn it`s self around. Changes were made to the way the school operates. All the teachers at Bethune had to reapply for their jobs. Leisa Edwards middle school director for the Caddo parish school district says the school was separated into two campuses. One for 7th and 8th graders, another for sixth graders. "To build that strong foundation with our incoming sixth graders. So that when they go to the main campus at Bethune on Henry for seventh and eight grade they will have the structure they will have the confidence." The plan is for students to be at the correct reading level by the end of the school year. And the pressure is on for teachers as well. Parents at the Bethune open house support the changes. They say their kids will benefit from the new strategies.
