The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department arrested John Cheatom, 23, of Texarkana, Ark., after he turned himself in to police today.
Cheatom's arrest is the direct result of an investigation into three recent incidents that involved an individual who robbed a taxi driver.
The first incident occurred on May 21, 2012, at the Links Apartment complex, when an individual called for a taxi cab and then physically restrained the driver and demanded money before fleeing on foot.
Approximately three months later, two similar incidents occurred on August 22, at Village Park South, and again on August 24, in the 700 block of East Street.
During both incidents the individual again called for a taxi cab and then physically restrained the driver and demanded money before fleeing on foot.
Today, Cheatom contacted detectives and turned himself into police custody. Cheatom has been charged with three counts of robbery.
