West Nile continues to pummel Texas, Louisiana

Three more deaths from the West Nile virus in Louisiana and Texas have been reported in Texas and Louisiana.

  The Texas Department of Health Services have confirmed two deaths in east Texas, one each in Harrison and Cass Counties.

    The third death was reported by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, but the parish in which the death occurred was not indicated.

    This year marks the highest number of West Nile virus cases reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The three deaths bring the total number of West Nile deaths in Texas to 50, and the Louisiana total to 10.
