More information is being released about cases of West Nile cases in the Texarkana area.

Texarkana Emergency Management said Thursday there are four cases in Miller County. It's not clear if any cases are within the city limits.

Texarkana, Arkansas Board of Directors declared an emergency in a special meeting Thursday.

Mayor Wayne Smith says the move, in addition to filing a state permit, will allow the city to spray for mosquitoes despite having out-of-date equipment.

"We want to be proactive. We want to get out and spray wherever we can to curtail it," Smith said.

Spray crews will target public places like schools as well as other areas where citizens have complaints about mosquitoes.

Texarkana, Arkansas resident Gloria Bradford welcomes the efforts.

"Thankfully they are getting around to doing it," Bradford said.

The truck will run several days a week.

Spraying in Texarkana, Arkansas will start Thursday at around 10:00 p.m.

Residents are being asked to stay inside if a spray truck is running on the street.
