Shots for Tots mobile unit makes neighborhood rounds providing free shots

If you think you've got everything your children need for back-to-school, if they don't have their shots, they're won't be allowed to go.

To make sure all students are truly ready for the first day, the Willis-Knighton Shots for Tots mobile unit is making its rounds.  They kicked-off the immunization season Friday morning at Party Central in Bossier City.

Bonnie Hughes, Shots for Tots manager, says while whooping cough is on the rise outside of Louisiana, it only takes one unimmunized child to spread it.

"Kids have to have immunizations to go back to school but they also need them all the way up until that point. It's a really, really important thing to do for protecting the spread of disease for our children," said Hughes.

The program is dedicated, not only to providing free immunizations, but spreading the word of how important they are to preventing the spread of diseases.

The mobile unit will be traveling again starting Monday.  For a complete schedule of locations, click here.
