FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas men's basketball team
will play Arizona State on Friday, Nov. 23, in the first of two games at
Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., as a part of the 2012 Continental Tire Las
Vegas Invitational. The outcome of the Friday game will determine the
Razorbacks next opponent, either Wisconsin or Creighton on Saturday, Nov. 24.
The meeting between Arkansas and Arizona State is just the second in the
history of the programs with the first occurring 21 years ago when the two schools
met on March 17, 1991, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Atlanta,
Ga. Arkansas would win the game 97-90 to advance to the Sweet 16 on the
way to an Elite Eight appearance.
The Razorbacks are 1-1 all-time against potential Saturday opponent Creighton
and have never played Wisconsin on the hardwood.
Arkansas is making just its second appearance in Las Vegas to play basketball
with the first coming in December of 1989 when the 11th-ranked Razorbacks
lost to hometown and 12th-ranked UNLV, 101-93.
