The Bi-State Narcotics Task Force (BSNTF) is investigating more than 20
reported drug overdoses that have occurred in the Texarkana area throughout the past
month.
All these reports are similar in that they involve young adults, between the ages
of 17 - 25, who have taken an unknown clandestine manufactured medication obtained by
illegal means.
The BSNTF is seeking assistance from citizens to discover the origin of these dangerous
drugs that have surfaced in the Texarkana area. The reports indicated the subjects who
have taken this medication were under the impression that it is Xanax, which is a medically
prescribed medication.
These drugs have possibly been laced with some other drug and can cause serious medical problems, up to and including death. Reports indicated several of the subjects who took this medication experienced severe agitation, loss of memory, extreme loss of motor skills, and loss of consciousness up to 4 days.
Although it is illegal to purchase medication without a prescription, the health risk is of
greater concern.
If you have taken a pill described above, first seek medical attention.
Second, call local police (TAPD 903-798-3130, TTPD 903-798-3116, MCSO 870-774-
3001) or Texarkana Crime Stoppers (903-793-STOP) The BSNTF is taking the lead in
this investigation.
They will be actively following up on any and all leads to determine the
person(s) responsible for distributing these drugs in the Texarkana area. Anyone with information will remain anonymous.
