Exit polls show Wisconsin voters want their Republican Governor, and their Democrat in the White House, too.

Scott Walker becomes the first governor in history to survive a recall. He beat democrat Tom Barrett by 8 points. "Tonight we tell Wisconsin, we tell our country and we tell people all across the globe that voters really do want leaders who stand up and make the tough decisions," said Governor Scott Walker (R) Wisconsin.

It was a literal slap in the face to Barrett, who's now lost to Walker twice. "Those who are victorious tonight as well as those of us who are not victorious, that at the end of the day do what is right for Wisconsin families," said Tom Barrett, (R) Former Candidate for Governor.

Mitt Romney called Walker's win a rejection of liberal ideas that he hopes will carry over to November, but President Obama led the state's exit polls by seven points. "Nationally it's gonna tell us whether or not Wisconsin is part of a rebound for Republicans in the industrial Midwest," said CNBC's Chief Washington Correspondent John Harwood.

Wisconsin voters think President Obama will do a better job fixing the economy and helping the middle class.

President Clinton tells CNBC that Congress should extend the Bush Tax Cuts - even for the rich - now, and deal with the issue next year. "The real issue is whether the price the Republican House will put on that extension is the permanent extension of the tax cuts, which I think is an error," said the Former President.

Two thirds of Wisconsin voters said their personal financial situation is the same or better than last year - perhaps explaining why they prefer the status quo - whether that's a republican or a democrat.
