A nine year old girl is in critical condition after being pulled from the deep end of a pool Saturday.
The girl was spending time at the Eastridge Country Club for a pool party. At some point, someone saw here lying on the bottom of the deep end. Bystanders pulled her out and began CPR after realizing she was unconscious.
The Shreveport Fire Department and Caddo Fire District Five responded to the scene. They say she was breathless and pulse less. She was taken to Willis-Knighton South - Pediatrics Unit where she did regain a pulse.
"Worse case scenario. About as unfortunate as it gets, but we know most injuries as it relates to water-related injuries are preventable. Number one way to prevent them is with closer adult supervision," said Louis Johnson, Shreveport Fire Dept.'s Chief of Training.
Johnson unofficially says there was a life guard on duty at the country club pool during the incident. He says when one is not present; you should swim only at your own risk.
