A shooting in the 2700 block of Amherst Street in the Sunset Acres neighborhood this afternoon left a man in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The shooting happened in midst of a young child's birthday party. As kids played in a spacewalk, an unidentified man drove up to a 29-year-old black male standing in his yard, got out of his car and fired five rounds at him.

The suspect struck the victim at least twice in the back and stomach. He was transported to LSU Medical Center.

Police say the shooting stemmed from an argument.

The suspect is unknown at this time as Shreveport Police continue to investigate the shooting.
