Mitt Romney brought a "big gun" to his National Rifle Association speech Friday: Ann Romney.

When a Democratic pundit complained the mother of five never worked a day in her life and could not advise her husband on political issues earlier in the week, even Democrats jumped to Ann's defense.

Mitt Romney needs the support of more women, which he hopes his wife's time in the spotlight may bring.

He also wants the Rifle Association endorsement.

"We need a President who will stand up for the rights of hunters, sportsmen, and those seeking to protect their homes and their families.  President Obama has not. I will," he told the convention crowd.

Romney backed Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law that might be George Zimmerman's defense
in the killing of Trayvon Martin.

President Obama, meanwhile, kept to his new theme: Raise taxes on millionaires.

"We can build an economy where everybody gets a fair shot, and everybody's doing their fair share," he told supporters in Tampa, Florida.

He earned more than a million in 2010 and $5.5 million in 2009, but not last year.

He released his 1040 due next week.

The president's adjusted gross income was $789,674, half salary and half book sales.

He'll pay $162,074 in taxes, a rate of 20.5%

President Obama is campaigning for everyone making over a million to pay at least 30%.

Mitt Romney estimates he'll pay 15.4% in taxes on $21 million in 2011 income.
