"To take a grass roots effort at building their neighborhood," explained Cedar Grove CDC executive director Steven Jackson. He is before the Shreveport city council requesting 20-thousand dollars for it's revitalization program.

"I didn't see a budget of what the city money would go towards," said Jeff Everson. "Which is part of my concern another cocern is that we don't have a lot of money in that account right now."

The funding would come out of the Riverfront fund, that only has 12-hundred dollars. Once on the fence was councilmen Michael Corbin.

"We've depleted our Riverfront Development funds," he said.

Councilmen Corbin later decided to vote in favor of funding the revitalization program, but said he would watch this process with a cautious eye.

Moments later the council approved hiring a Lafayette attorney to conduct an investigation concerning the city's financial advisor on whether a contract breach occurred.

 Mayor Cedric Glover disapproves.

"Now according to what I see here in 71 we're about to authorize upwards of 75-thousand for something the councils own staff has said is not necessary," said Glover.

As both items tapping into a slim budget, council members will look to see how it can cut costs in upcoming meetings.

"I do agree with the chairman that I think this will be more discussion and more detail in an audit finance committee meeting," concluded Corbin.
