Exactly one year ago Shreveport voters approved a 175-million dollar bond the largest in the city's history.

"Legardy, Jamison, Kelsey, Audrey Lane," Mayor Cedric Glover is listing off just a few streets within Shreveport that need major repairing.
He's here to update the citizens on the progress that is being made with 81-million issued bond money."

"We have a number of projects in water and sewer, streets and drainage, parks and recreation," explained councilwoman Rose McCulloch. "I'll say maybe 12 to 15 right now that's going on in district A."

"We have over a dozen streets that were based upon citizens complaints," added councilmen Sam Jenkins. "I'm also going to consult with the department heads about streets."

Glover adds the city is in the process of receiving feedback from the public meetings, seeking input on street projects, recreation improvements and address city department needs.

"If we had half as much focus and energy, the record would show us trying to make the pot bigger last fall," added Glover. "We wouldn't be sitting here talking about these council members having three to four million dollars per district."

Although some voters seem to believe this process is taking too long, councilmen Jeff Everson urges all to be patient.

"Part of what's difficult for people to keep in mind is that a lot of work has to take place on paper before hand," said Everson. "If you don't got the plans done the projects aren't going to come out right."
