Classrooms inside Apollo are different than most. That's because they're designed for an open-classroom philosophy popular in the 1960s and 1970s. Principal Julie Dupree has been at Apollo for 33 years, she says the "no walls approach" helps students learn to focus. It also maintains unity and puts students on their best behavior since they know everyone can see what they're doing. For 12 of the last 13 years Apollo has been named the best elementary school by the Bossier Press Tribune and this past year Dupree also won the best principal.
