RUSTON, La. (March 16, 2012) - Louisiana Tech head football coach Sonny Dykes announced three new additions to the football roster Friday. Thaddeus Medford, Jens Danielson and Andre Wiggins have committed to joining the program.
Medford, listed as an athlete, signed a National Letter of Intent recently to join the Bulldog program. A native of Newbern, Tenn., Medford (5-11, 190) is an undersized but explosive athlete that played cornerback and running back at Dyer County High School. He received the Combine King and Fastest Man awards at the 2010 National Underclassmen Combine in Memphis. He chose Louisiana Tech over a late offer from Ole Miss.
Jens (pronounced YENS) Danielson, an offensive tackle, joins Louisiana Tech's program after a one-year stint at Coffeyville Community College. Coached by Darian Dulin and John Harrell, Danielson started every game at right tackle as his team went 6-4 in 2011. He chose Louisiana Tech over Kansas, East Carolina, Minnesota, Arkansas and Kansas State.
Wiggins, a linebacker, transferred to Louisiana Tech from Wake Forest. He and LA Tech have applied for a waiver to the NCAA to allow him to play immediately in 2012. Wiggins originally comes from San Antonio, Texas, where he was named to the All-Area team as a 2011 graduate of James Madison High School. His senior year, he made 85 tackles, broke up 12 passes and recovered one fumble.
While Medford won't be able to enroll until this summer, Danielson and Wiggins are at Louisiana Tech now and are expected to participate in spring practice drills beginning today. They will be joined by Alec Davis and Jon Greenwalt, two early junior college signees for the Bulldogs.
