Maton Pitches Gem as Louisiana Tech Defeats Lamar, 8-1

Justin Gordey lead off the bottom of the first inning reaching on an error and advanced to third base on a hit-and-run single by shortstop Ryan Gebhardt to bring up Alex Williams.
Williams singled to left field to drive in Gordey, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Cleanup hitter Bre'shon Kimbell grounded into a double play as Gebhardt scored as Tech took a 2-0 advantage.
That was all Maton (3-0) needed as the freshman picked up 11 strikeouts and gave up one run on two hits to pick up his third win of the season.
Carter Hahn allowed five runs (four earned) in 3.1 innings to pick up his first loss of the season as the Cardinals fell to 4-7 on the season.
The Bulldogs have a week off before returning to action against Creighton at Ameritrade Park, home of the NCAA College World Series.
