Detective Rod Demery says, “A number of the party attempted to interfere in that arrest pulled him away from officers and verbally were enticing the crowd that was there.”
The others involved who tried to stop the arrest were actors Josh Brolin, Jeffrey Wright and crew members: Evan bates, Cherilyn Young, Amy Draughn, and Ismael Maritinez.
Detective Demery says these types of misdemeanor arrests are common and everyone who breaks the law is treated the same. “Regardless of who they are if theyre found in violation of city ordinance or state law, officers can arrest them just as they would anyone else.”
Police charged Fellend with entering and remaining after being forbidden, resisting arrest, and public intoxication. Brolin, Wright, and the other crew members were charged with interfering with an arrest. All six were booked, paid their bonds within a couple hours, and released.
Demory says additional officers were called to deal with the crowd of over 75 people gathered outside the bar, but, there were no reports of injuries.
We also tried to get a comment from the owner and employees of Stray Cat Bar, but they said they were advised not to comment on the incident.
Detective Demery says it will now be up to the city courts to decide if they will face fines or jail time.
