Deidra Stanley
Deidra and Jonathan Stanley got married on this day
last year and their story is special for a couple of reasons. For starters, it's the second marriage for
both. They reconnected online after being friends in high school more than 20
years ago. Their relationship started out long distance, but then Deidra says
she realized she wanted to be with Jonathan.
So every day she'd walk to a fountain near her work, toss in a penny and
wish they could be together. Finally
things worked out, she moved to Texarkana and the two were married last
Valentine's Day. Happy anniversary!
Crystal Wilson
Crystal Wilson from Marshall, TX says
she's celebrating 30 years of marriage to her husband Eddie. Like many
relationships, theirs started out long distance. Their story has a Cajun twist,
that's because the two met over a bowl of seafood gumbo. Crystal says Eddie gave her his last oyster,
and told her he was sure he was going to marry her. She didn't believe him, but after two years of
corresponding back and forth from Louisiana to Texas, they finally got married.
Now, they have three daughters, seven grandchildren with another on the way.Congratulations, thanks for sharing your love
story with us.
Larry Dennis
You
never forget your first love, at least that's what Larry Dennis believes. Larry says he was engaged to his wife Vicki
almost 40 years ago, in 1972. But the
two ended up breaking up before tying the knot. They each married other people,
had children and got divorces. They then
reconnected and have been married for 27 years.
Congratulations and thanks for sharing your love story with us.
Rob Whited
When it comes to love, never give up. Rob Whited, who is one of our camera operators on NBC 6 News Today, says he first saw his wife when she was a waitress at Murrell's. He'd gone into the diner to grab a bite to eat, after a gig with his jazz band, and ended up chatting with Megan for most of the meal. Afterwards he asked her out, but she said no. So Rob went back the next night to ask Megan for a date, and again she gave him the same response. For six months, Rob says he went back and asked the same question; he always got the same answer. Finally, Megan agreed to go to one of his shows. Rob says it was a horrible date. She didn't like the music and they barely talked afterwards. But just a few days later, Megan called him. They went out on a second date, which he says was great, and ended up dating for two years. They were married in 2006. Rob says when Murrell's was torn down a few years ago; he went and picked up a brick from the demolished building. He says it's something he'll always have to remember the place where he fell in love.
