Couple Arrested For Forgery

Mille and Nathan Humphries were arrested following a three month police investigation. Bossiers white collar crime unit says over the past year Millie Humphries stole and forged checks belonging to an unidentified business in Bossier City. Humphries worked there as a secretary. Police say Humphries made the checks out to herself and her husband. They also say she altered business records to show the checks were made out to vendors. Then the couple cashed them. Mark Natale with the Bossier police department says an audit helped them discover the scam.
"The business noticed there wasn`t something quite right. There were some checks missing things didn`t balance out between checks."
Police say the couple stole close to fifty five thousand dollars by forging checks. The couple was originally booked into the Bossier City jail on forgery charges, but since then has been transferred to the Bossier parish maximum security correctional facility.
